The Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding

The SOS Approach was developed by Dr. Kay Toomey a Pediatric Psychologist who has worked with children with feeding/eating challenges for 35+ years. Established as a family centered, evidence-based program for assessing and treating children with feeding concerns, it is a results-driven feeding program with ~30 years of proven clinical experience helping children learn the skills they need to eat well. This approach holistically addresses body systems involved in a child’s current eating skills:

  • physical

  • medical

  • nutritional

  • developmental

  • learning

  • environmental

  • oral motor

  • postural

  • sensory factors
