Meet the Therapist

Welcome to Tiny Tummies Therapy! My name is Emily (Tipton) Robertson. I am a practicing Occupational Therapist—board certified, licensed, and registered, serving children in Seminole and Orange Counties for over three years.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a minor in Health Services Administration from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from McMaster University.

With over three years of experience in pediatric occupational therapy, I quickly realized the various feeding challenges families and children are facing surrounding their diet and development emerging as early as infancy. Thus, my passion for helping empower children and families through evaluating and treating pediatric feeding disorders emerged.

I specialize in supporting infants and young children (0-6 years old) with a variety of feeding challenges—from mild concerns to complex needs. I’ve pursued advanced training in the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding to provide evidence-based, play-based strategies that foster positive mealtime experiences. As an Infant and Toddler Developmental Specialist, I’m passionate about working closely with families during the early years to support meaningful progress and build confident, capable eaters.

I am a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) community, continuously pursuing additional education and training in the pediatric feeding realm to be the best practitioner I can be. I look forward to working and collaborating with your family!

Additional Advanced SOS Training:

  • Children with Gastroesophageal Reflux

  • Feeding the 6-16 Month Old Child

  • Effectively Using New Oral Motor Steps to Eating

FAQs

  • Children with feeding, eating, or mealtime difficulties should be recommended to pursue a feeding therapy evaluation. The SOS Approach to Feeding classifies children with these challenges into being either “picky eaters” or “problem feeders”.

    This can include:

    • Infants, toddlers and children 0-6 years old

    • Various developmental/medical conditions (related or unrelated to feeding)

    • Exhibit a limited or restrictivediet (<=30 safe foods; elimination of 1 or more food groups)

    • Growth or weight gain concerns

    • Families experiencing mealtime challenges

    • Difficulty transitioning to purees or solids

    • Sensory processing differences

    • Oral motor skill delays

    • Hesitancy, distress, reluctance or avoidance during mealtimes

  • TTT is out-of-network with commercial insurance companies, however families can submit a superbill (provided by therapist) of services performed to insurance providers for possible reimbursement. It is the family’s responsibility to be inept with their plan’s coverage and requirements (referral, diagnosis/es), as this can vary greatly and impact their coverage of services. Therapist is more than happy to provide CPT codes before service rendering, if needed.

*Please note TTT is not taking Medicaid patients at this time due to billing constraints.

  • It is required for parents to bring their completed New Patient Paperwork (emailed to families upon appointment booking) in order for the most effective and efficient Initial Evaluation.

    These forms include:

    • Child’s Health History

    • Child’s Food List

    • Caregiver Questionnaire

    • Child’s Growth Charts

Preferred foods (up to 3 choices) of child should also be brought to their initial visit.

*Please note there may be additional paperwork during the evaluation.

  • Cancellations must occur with at least 48 hour notice of scheduled appointment time to ensure other families can have the opportunity to get on the schedule. There will be a cancellation fee at 50% of scheduled visit cost if the cancellation occurred within the 48 hour time frame or at 100% of scheduled visit rate if cancellation occurred within 24 hour time frame.

**Payment information will be collected upon booking initial appointment.
